Need to Know

Best for
Western Hall combines stadium-style seats and wooden bleachers. WIU lists 4,421 places for basketball and volleyball, distinct from its 4,781 all-events capacity. Compare the ticketed section and seating type before buying; the official basketball diagram separates reserved areas, general admission, the student end and pep band.
Watch out for
WIU’s published clear-bag policy explicitly applies to football at Hanson Field. Confirm Western Hall’s own current bag and prohibited-item rules with Athletics before a basketball visit; do not assume the football bag dimensions apply inside this arena.
Good arrival window
Route to Western Hall at 1001 West University Drive, Macomb, IL 61455. WIU’s general 1 University Circle mailing address is not the arena’s building address. Check the current game notice for doors and doubleheader timing, then allow time to find an authorized parking space and walk to the hall.
Main transit note

Parking At A Glance

What to do
WIU’s campus rules require permits in certain lots from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, with other lots and spaces restricted around the clock as posted. Guests can obtain a free permit for restricted hours. Confirm any basketball event arrangement with Parking Services at 309-298-1921 and follow the signs at your chosen lot.
Best option
Use WIU’s official parking map to locate Western Hall, marked 5S, beside West University Drive. Nearby Q and faculty/staff markings identify campus permit categories, not a basketball parking exemption. Check the game notice and lot signs before leaving the car.
Avoid
Reserved spaces, fire lanes and no-parking zones remain restricted on weekends and holidays. Residence-hall meters have longer enforcement hours; an evening game does not make every campus space free.

Western Hall reflects Western Illinois traditions and campus rhythms, but the smoothest visit starts with the school’s current game-day information rather than a generic arena address.
