Check which Ottawa National Arts Centre hall is printed on your ticket: Southam Hall, Babs Asper Theatre, Azrieli Studio and Fourth Stage have separate entrances within the complex and different layouts. The Elgin Street entrance at Queen and the Rideau Canal entrance off Lawrence Freiman Lane are accessible. Late seating is allowed only at a suitable pause, and some performances permit no late entry; arrive before curtain.

Transit & the journey home

Ride Line 1 to Rideau Station for the shorter published walk of about 550 metres, or Parliament Station for about 650 metres. Bus routes 5, 6, 14, 15, and 16 stop near Elgin and Queen streets.

What to do: Use the NAC garage entrance at Elgin and Slater for the direct building connection. The garage is open continuously, has 6-foot-4 clearance, and uses an evening or weekend maximum; nearby alternatives include World Exchange Plaza, City Hall, and Rogers Centre Ottawa.
Best option: Rideau Station for transit, or the on-site Elgin and Slater garage when a direct indoor route matters
Avoid: Approaching Lawrence Freiman Lane without checking current access restrictions, or assuming first-come accessible spaces on garage Levels P2 and P3 will remain available near curtain

Book accessible/companion seating for your selected hall. Southam Hall wheelchair positions are on the Orchestra level; public lifts reach the Amphitheatre, with staff assistance needed for other hall lifts, and other seats can involve stairs. Babs Asper has a ramp to rear-Orchestra accessible positions; its upper level uses stairs. Azrieli Studio has back-row accessible positions and stairs to other rows; Fourth Stage access has no entrance stairs, but the back row is not accessible. First-come wheelchairs and infrared listening devices/telecoil neck loops are free at the Communication Centre near the Theatre checkroom, with photo ID left until return. Contact House Management at 613-947-7000 ahead for assistance. Universal Canal-level washrooms include an adult lift table; confirm your route and equipment availability.
