Need to Know

Best for
McDonough Arena is Georgetown’s on-campus basketball and volleyball venue. Its current facility page lists 2,000 spectators and describes the 2025 chairback and LED improvements, replacing this guide’s older 2,500 figure. Use renovated-arena photographs when comparing seating; older beige-bleacher images show the previous arrangement.
Watch out for
Allowed bags are subject to inspection under Georgetown’s on-campus policy; a maximum bag size and medical-item process were not established. Alcohol, glass containers, coolers and tripods are prohibited. The page allows re-entry with a ticket stub while also describing all tickets as digital; confirm the current digital re-entry procedure with staff before leaving.
Good arrival window
Georgetown’s on-campus spectator policy says gates open one hour before events unless otherwise stated. Allow time to park in Southwest Garage, walk past the Thompson Center to McDonough, pass screening and scan your digital ticket. Confirm the actual game notice for any changed opening time.

What to do

Best option
Use Southwest Garage via the Canal Road entrance; athletics gives 3611 Canal Road NW, Washington, DC 20057 as its GPS address. Georgetown’s Spaces page lists a general rate of $5 per hour Monday–Saturday and free Sunday parking; confirm the current athletics-event rate and any exceptions before travel.
Avoid
Do not use Capital One Arena parking for an on-campus McDonough game. Keep tailgate areas and restricted campus spaces clear; a basketball ticket does not independently establish complimentary parking.
