2026 / New York / Tennis

Your first US Open.
Start with the right ticket.

A grounds pass won't get you into Arthur Ashe. An Ashe ticket reserves your seat for one session, not the whole day. Here's how to get the ticket, packing and travel details straight before you leave.

Your ticket

Ashe is not included in a grounds pass.

Your session

Evening entry starts at 6 p.m. on listed dates.

Your bag

Size alone doesn't make a backpack permitted.

01 / Before you go

What does your ticket actually let you see?

Check three things: the date, the stadium and whether it says day or evening. Your reserved Ashe seat applies only to the session printed on your ticket. General-admission access elsewhere does not reserve a seat there.

Arthur Ashe

Reserved seat for the day OR evening session on your ticket.

General-admission areas in Armstrong, Grandstand and field courts, first come, first served.

Grounds admission

No entry to Arthur Ashe.

General-admission areas in Armstrong, Grandstand and field courts, first come, first served.

Louis Armstrong / Grandstand reserved

Reserved seat in the named stadium, not Arthur Ashe.

Other general-admission court access depends on your ticket. Check the official ticket guide.

Want to see a particular player? Check the published order of play for the court and session. Don't assume an Ashe ticket means that player will be on court when you're there.

02 / Before you go

Work backward from your entry time.

Gate opening is not the same as match start. For an evening ticket, arriving at noon doesn't unlock the afternoon. Use your date below, then check the live gate page before traveling.

September 10's free daytime grounds access is not an Arthur Ashe reserved-seat ticket. Session dates, gates and match times can change.

Our planning advice: leave time after gates open for screening, the walk to your court and finding your section. There isn't one reliable queue-time estimate for every session.

03 / Before you go

Pack for the US Open, not another stadium.

  • One bag per guest: maximum 12 inches wide × 12 inches high × 16 inches long. Every bag can be searched.
  • Ordinary backpacks are prohibited. Single-compartment drawstring bags are an exception. Backpack and size exceptions for ADA/medical equipment require confirmation by a security supervisor.
  • Reusable water bottle: metal or plastic, 24 ounces or smaller. Don't bring glass, cans or alcohol. The published exception does not remove the size limit.
  • Leave these behind: hard coolers, aerosol cans, laptops, selfie sticks and tennis racquets. Check the complete list for exceptions and other prohibited items.
  • Storage is outside: paid bag storage is listed outside the Main Entry and Champions' Gate, not inside the grounds.

Don't assume a clear backpack is allowed just because it's clear. The US Open rule restricts the bag type, not only its dimensions. For medical equipment, resolve the exception with the organizer before traveling.

04 / Before you go

Plan the trip home before the first serve.

The US Open recommends public transportation because parking is limited. The destination is the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens.

7 train or LIRR

Both serve Mets–Willets Point. Check your outbound and late-night return options with MTA before leaving. Don't plan around an old screenshot of a train schedule.

Rideshare or driving

Official rideshare pickup and drop-off is at the New York Hall of Science parking lot, with a path to Champions' Entry. Parking arrangements change on Mets home-game dates.

Accessible travel: the organizer directs LIRR riders needing accessible access to transfer at Woodside to the 7 train. Its travel page also describes an assistance shuttle between the rideshare area and Champions' Entry. Confirm current service and your specific access needs before the trip.

05 / Before you go

Food, facilities and the 2026 changes.

Food Village and the wider grounds have dining options; don't plan around an old restaurant recommendation inside Ashe. Aces and the former US Open Club are no longer available in their previous form in 2026. Some replacement hospitality spaces require specific access.

Bringing your own food? We couldn't verify a blanket outside-food allowance in the current official pages reviewed. Check with the organizer for your items. Hard coolers and sealed packages appear on the prohibited list.

The grounds are cashless. Use the official map to locate restrooms, dining and Guest Services. Accessible seating is subject to availability; an ordinary grounds ticket does not create reserved Ashe access.

Ashe has a retractable roof, but that doesn't make the walk between courts weatherproof. Check the forecast, plan for time outdoors and use the current seating information while the stadium transformation continues.

06 / Before you go

The five-minute check before you leave.

  1. Open your mobile ticket. Confirm the date, stadium, session and seat.
  2. Check the official order of play and that day's gate opening.
  3. Measure your bag and bottle. Recheck the prohibited list and any medical exception.
  4. Check travel alerts, your return route and the current pickup or parking location.
  5. Charge your phone and review the grounds map before joining the entry line.

This is independent planning guidance, not a promise of admission, a current queue estimate or a seat guarantee. Your ticket and the organizer's latest rules control.
